The Parent Engagement Center (PEC) is a joint venture between CW Solutions and the Wood County Child Support Agency, through Access & Visitation funding by the Department of Children and Families. The purpose of the PEC is to provide a safe, fun and trauma-informed space for families to meet for visitation, parenting and supervised visits. The first center opened in Marshfield in September 2020. Based upon the success of that center, additional Access & Visitation funding was awarded to open a second center in Wisconsin Rapids. That center is scheduled to open in July 2021. The center is only available by reservation, generally by a Wood County or CW Solutions staff member. The center was designed by child development professionals and each element was carefully selected to enrich the child and family experience.
Although each center has it own unique design, primary elements of both include:
- Dozens of books for children age 0-12
- Activity centers for experiential learning
- Puzzles and games for all age ranges
- Science kids
- Arts and Crafts
- Kitchen area
- Comfortable seating including rocker-gliders for parents with young children
- Large screen TV for presentations and entertainment
